Singing their praises

Sometimes it pays to get stuck in traffic! Had it not been for my spotting a poster for an upcoming concert at St Mark’s Church on the Rugby Road in Leamington, my husband’s aunt and I would never have enjoyed such a fabulous concert last Saturday featuring the Warwickshire County Boys’ Choir. ( I had seen them very briefly at Warwick Folk Festival in the summer.)

What an amazing group of youngsters! They set the church alight with their performance. In fact, I am led to believe this is their first full-length show. The audience were on their feet baying for more. Some of the youngsters were performing for the first time, and despite a few stage nerves, it was obvious how much it meant to them and how special they felt belonging to this exceptional choir. Special praise also for the oboe soloist, whose musical future seems assured.

It was our first visit also to the church and I will keep a beady eye out for more events there too. But without hesitation we will be heading to the Spa Centre in November for our next encounter with the singing sensation that is Warwickshire County Boys’ Choir. - Karen Gooch, Warwick.
