Simple ‘no parking’ would’ve sufficed

Re last week’s story on motorists getting fined for using suspended parking bays. Yes, I was caught out too. I didn t understand what ‘suspended bay’ meant.

I paid into the machine and got back to the car in time. When I saw the traffic warden writing I called that I have a valid paid ticket in my window. She said ‘you are illegally parked’. I said’why’. She said ‘this bay is suspended’. I said ‘what the hell does that mean when the machine took my money?’

I was furious. I paid my fine of £35 on the last of the 14 days. Why do we pay pompous idiots in the council who don’t understand that ‘no parking’ would have been comprehensive. - Jan Sherlock, Lillington
