Maybe a chance to downsize staff?

With reference to WDC’s apparent quandary as to where to move their offices to, I would like to make a somewhat revolutionary proposal.

The old Leamington Town Hall has been suggested it seems, but WDC apparently consider it to be not quite large enough. My proposal, which would probably be anathema to council bosses and councillors alike, is to shrink the workforce until it would fit inside the town hall.

The current crop of council bosses and councillors would no doubt react with horror and downright amazement at such a solution, but that is how things are in the real world. Be it banking, insurance or industry they all try and run leaner, fitter and more productive workforces as a simple matter of course. Anyone from the private sector will have seen this first hand.

No doubt a good competent manager from a private sector background could readily and easily make huge savings. Anyone who has had more than a passing experience of WDC must realise the sheer scale of waste and inefficiency that currently exists.
