Judge matter for yourselves

I read with interest the article last week with statements from Mr Elliott, chief executive of Warwick District Council, where he claims that the council has been “open and transparent” about St Mary Lands.

As the chair of the Friends of St Mary Lands, can I suggest readers make up their own minds by reading the numerous documents we have obtained and published on our website http://friendsofstmarylandswarwick.co.uk/campaigns/index.html

They will then be a position to see who has been “disingenuous” and understand the anger of local councillors and members of the public.

In 2005 Mr Elliott stated “Wide open spaces in or on the edge of town are extremely precious. Warwick is fortunate in its parks and gardens but St Mary Lands are a very big plus and should be safeguarded for future generations”.

Our organisation simply wishes to uphold this vision and expects our council to put the needs of local residents as central to how they manage our parks, and not secondary to commercial interests.
