Church centre plan has split the village

Further to your article on the Church Centre, I am one of a large amount of residents that objected to a church centre in the medieval church yard next to a lovely Saxon church in Bishops Tachbrook.

The St Chads Centre has split the village. We do need a village hall, preferably at the sports field area, not managed by the church and vicar.

This centre does not have a facility from the church authorities to build it as yet because it was withdrawn when they found out it was proposed on a medieval graveyard in consecrated ground.

This centre is requesting charity status. This is only going to benefit VAT, and rates, but if they are not going to run the site as a business, which is how they are proposing to pay for its upkeep and management. Who is going to pay to run it when the church is thousands in the red?

For well bellow £75,000, I would guarantee we could produce a better parish/village facility at the sports field.

This centre will not unite a village but will damage the 14th century church and village centre with parking and traffic issues.

They need to spend more money on repairing the deteriorating church, and a village hall in the sports and social club that we can all use. - David Norris, via email.
