A waste of time and resources?

When the two weekly collections of waste and recycling came to Warwick district there were concerns raised by the public about food waste only being collected every other week, particularly during the summertime when food rotted and maggots overtook the bins.

WDC assured the public that this was not a problem by suggesting that they use their green bin one week and their grey bin the other to deposit their food waste.

We now find that over the past couple of collections, stickers have been placed on the bins saying that no waste food is to be placed in the grey waste bins.

This means that all food waste has to be placed in the green bins. Not a problem during the summer but in the winter when the majority of residents do not use their green bins WDC will have to collect the equivalent of less than a carrier bag of food waste from every household in the district every two weeks. What an absolute waste of time, public spending and resources!
