John attended Coten End School in England and served in the Royal Air Force for 12 years. A carpenter by trade, he was a master at building things and fixing anything needed. In later years, he served in management taking care of the elderly for Holiday Retirement.

As a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, John held a variety of callings, including teacher, home teacher, High Priest Group Leader, High Councilman and Bishop. He was known in his ward as the sweet ‘candy man’.

John was one of three children, Sylvia and Roy, and was preceded in death by their parents, Henry and Hilda Turner. He is survived by his wife, Alexandra; his three children, Deborah (Paul), Kevin (Nicole) and Wade (Julie); and his children from his previous marriage, Pearl, Ian and Kay. He has seven beautiful grandchildren - Bailey, Alexander, Luke, Violet, Brennen, Michaela and Jared; who were the joy of his life.
