New scooter will help Leamington charity

A SCHEME that helps wheelchair users and others with mobile difficulties get about Leamington independently has been bought a new mobility scooter.

The Leamington, Warwick and Kenilworth branch of the MS Society decided to use their funds to buy the vehicle for Shopmobility in the town centre.

Jayne Canning, chairman of the society and a director of Shopmobility, said: “There are quite a few people with multiple sclerosis who use the scheme, but we wanted to do this for the wider community as well. We like to help other causes as well as our own.

“Shopmobility are delighted with it. They just need more now. We want more people to know it’s there.”

Shopmobility - on level 4 of the Royal Priors shopping centre - provides wheelchairs and scooters to anyone who has a mobile difficulty to allow them to visit shops, cafes, parks and other public services within the town centre. To find out more, call 470450.
