MP opens office in the heart of Old Town

It has been an antique furniture shop, an Indian delicatessen and a solicitor’s office, now 43a Clemens Street in the heart of Old Town is the office of Chris White MP.

The office, which was opened on Friday, will be open most weekdays between 9am and 3pm for constituents to visit when they need help with difficult problems.

The Warwick and Leamington MP, who was elected in May, said he had chosen the premises because it is near Age Concern, Brunswick Healthy Living Centre and Bath Place Community Venture.

Mr White said: “Some people get the impression that Warwick and Leamington are very affluent places. But there are areas that aren’t so fortunate and the reason I came into politics was to help people where I can.

“I want to be as accessible as possible and very much to be seen as part of the community.”

The office, which has a reception area and private meeting room, will be staffed by case worker Zoe Parkin, a former manager at South Warwickshire Carers Support Service, and other members of staff.

Mr White said he would also be holding surgeries in Whitnash, Warwick Gates and villages in the constituency.

He added: “So far this year I have seen just under 200 constituents at my twice-weekly surgeries, which I have been holding at the Old Library in Leamington, and the Gap Community Centre and Castle Hill Baptist Church in Warwick.

“Having an office in Leamington will allow me to assist with the growing amount of casework that I am taking on.

“I have a very strong team who know their subjects. I can’t promise to fix everything by any means but my aim is to do whatever we can for as many people as possible.”
