Merlin still in negotiations over court buildings

DISCUSSIONS are actively continuing between Warwickshire County Council and the Merlin Entertainments Group about the future of the former Crown and County Court buildings in Northgate Street, Warwick.

Merlin - which owns Warwick Castle - has still not been named as the chosen leasee of the Grade I listed court complex, which is the original Shire Hall. This could be because negotiations about opening times still have to be agreed.

But on Wednesday Tim Harrison-Jones, general manager at the castle, said: “The Merlin Entertainments Group is considering the opportunity presented by the Old Shire Hall. In the meantime the castle will continue to bring employment and investment opportunities to the town and keep Warick on the map for British and overseas visitors.”
