Men arrested on suspicion of stealing lead from Leamington church

TORCHLIGHT drew the attention of an alert member of the public to suspicious goings-on at a Leamington church early today (Monday February 20).

The onlooker called police after seeing the lights and hearing noises from the back of St Mark’s church in Rugby Road at around 1am.

Officers arrested three men on suspicion of stealing lead from the roof of the Victorian church.

The men, two aged 18 and one 17, are from Sutton Coldfield. They spent the night in police cells and are being interviewed by officers today.
