LOOKING BACK - March 2, 2017 edition
Thank you to Brian Cave for raiding his family archives to bring us these two old school photos.
The first from around 1920 is of the ‘rest period’ at Wood Street Infants School, where his mother and sisters (family name Tomalin) would all have attended. See how the hammocks are strung from the legs of upturned desks!

Hide AdThe second is of the staff of Murray Boys School around 1950 and Brian has been able to name everyone.
Front row, from left: J Watson, S Evans, T Cottrell, Reuben Taylor (Head), Mrs Blundell (School Secretary), R Salmon and D Boyes.
Back row, from left: G Tebbs, F Cox and RWS Cave.
He says both his father, who taught at the school and Reuben Taylor moved to Fareham School when Murray closed.
