Leamington woman’s death ‘unexplained’

A WOMAN’s body was found by police at a flat in Leamington on Sunday.

Officers were called to the home at Binswood Mansions in Arlington Avenue, Leamington, shortly after 2pm after reports of concern for the welfare of a woman who lived there.

On entering the flat, they found the body of the woman on the floor.

Officers also found a quantity of an unknown powder on the floor. As a precautionary measure the area was cordoned off and four people in adjoining flats in Binswood Mansions were evacuated from their homes while the nature of the powder was established.

The residents were allowed to return to their homes a short time later once the nature of the substance has been determined as non-hazardous.

Police are treating the woman’s death as unexplained. A postmortem examination conducted by a Home Office pathologist on Monday was completed with inconclusive results and further tests are now being carried out in order to determine the cause of death.
