Leamington Rotary Raft Race was a buoyant affair

There were no sunken vessels at the end of what proved to be a buoyant and successful Charity Raft Race organised by the Leamington Rotary Club.

It was the 13th time the annual event took place on the Rivers Leam and Avon between Leamington and Warwick but it was not unlucky for any of the 22 teams who took part last Saturday.

The start had been delayed by 15 minutes due to a fallen tree river near the junction of the Leam and Avon at Portobello bridge but this had been spotted and was then removed by safety marshalls from the Leam and Warwick Boat Centres and stalwarts from the Old Brummies raft .

The race, won by the 3rd Warwick Scouts in 50 minutes , rasied about £10,000 with the coveted Fundraising Champions Shield yet to be awarded.
