Leamington colleagues’ Peru cycle will be in aid of Unicef project

THREE colleagues will cycle from the Andes Mountains to the Amazon Rainforest in Peru to raise money for an international children’s charity.

Magda Mogilnicka, Zoe Shires and James Dowden of Millward Brown in Leamington will set off in November, covering 300 kilometres at altitudes of up to 3,000 metres over ten days in support of Unicef’s Brighter Futures programme.

Along the way the trio will visit the Inca capital of Cusco, cycle through rural Andean communities and explore the ruins of the ancient city of Machu Picchu.

Miss Mogilnicka said: “I’ve always wanted to go to South America it was always a dream.

“When I saw the company had organised a trip I saw it as a good opportunity.”

The trip has been organised by Millward Brown’s parent company Kantar, with employees from all over the world taking part.

After the bicycle ride, a handful of the participants including Mr Dowden will travel to Bolivia where the Brighter Futures programme has set up units for youngsters who have been victims or witnesses of crime.

Mr Dowden said: “I had done a lot of fundraising before the bike ride came up and this gives me the opportunity to see the work first hand.

“Raising the money and training is a daunting prospect but this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me and I’ve never been outside of Europe before.”

The colleagues must all raise at least £1,500 for the cause and are organising various fundraising events including a car wash, shopping bag packing and a football tournament .
