Leam Terrace accidents lead to speed check call

Robin Richmond contacted the Courier to report that his neighbour’s car had been hit twice within the past year.

The most recent incident took place when the Ford Mondeo and also an Audi - both parked - were hit by a car which came to rest nearly 30 metres away.

Mr Richmond said: “Leam Terrace is a wide, straight, road, and residents have seen many examples of cars and motorcycles being driven at high speed along its length.

“This is going back a number of years and when we asked for monitoring of the speed of traffic in the road it was done but not regularly.

“This gives us the impression that the bottom of town is not as well regarded by the authorities.

“There needs to be a regular survey and if it is found there is a problem with speeding then maybe some traffic calming measures should be brought in.

“That would make the street safer for everybody.”

Cllr John Barrott (Lab, Leamington Willes) said he had heard nothing from residents or his fellow ward councillors regarding issues with speeding in Leam Terrace but that the police had carried out some checks at the end of the summer and that he would ask the Leamington Spa South Safer Neighbourhood Team if it could do some more.
