Kenilworth woman's marathon effort for cancer-surviving husband

Mum-of-two Sarah Edmunds is hoping to raise as much as she can for the Brain Tumour Charity, five years after her husband Gavin was diagnosed at the age of 35. He was told the tumour was inoperable and incurable at the time.

Sarah said: “It turned our lives upside down. At the time our kids, Ben and Charlie, were seven and five - it was a huge shock.”

Gavin was treated with radiotherapy, which shrunk the tumour - and now, having defied the odds, is doing well.

Sarah said: “He has been left with double vision and a hole in his brain, but he is really well and we are hugely thankful.

“I heard a programme on Radio 4 saying that brain tumour charities don’t get as much money as other cancer charities because there really aren’t many survivors who can raise the profile and raise money.

“Well, we survived as a family and I would love to raise money to help more people get a happy ending like us.”

The couple are selling a photograph as part of the ongoing photography exhibition at The Gallery Kenilworth in Smalley Place, with proceeds going towards Sarah’s marathon fund.

She added: “It would be great to help raise money and awareness for the biggest cancer killer of children and people under 40.
