HMV in Leamington is ‘here to stay’

HMV in Leamington is now staying open after it was on the brink of closure.

Posters in the music and DVD shop’s window state that the store in the Royal Priors shopping centre is ‘here to stay’ and that ‘normal service will resume shortly’.

In February the branch was listed by administrators Deloitte as being among 66 stores which were due to close in the next two months.

The store has been holding a ‘closing down’ sale with large discounts on most of its stock.

But at the weekend restructuring firm Hilco was locked in talks with landlords in the hope of saving 140 of the company’s 220 shops.

A spokesman for Deloitte said the administrators were unable to comment on individual stores while talks were ongoing with key stake holders.
