Historic Wellesbourne site is window into past

A TIME capsule into Warwickshire’s rural history will be open for free as part of Heritage Open Days
tomorrow (Saturday).

Chedham’s Yard, a blacksmith’s and wheelwright’s workshop that lay undisturbed for decades after closing in the 1960s, won the BBC’s Restoration Village competition for funding in 2006. It opened to the
public in June and visitors can now book tours of the site, take part in activities every Saturday including blacksmiths demonstrations, willow weaving, storytelling and country crafts.

Heritage project officer Emma Banks said: “We are delighted to be part of Heritage Open Days and hope as many people as possible come along and experience this unique site, handle objects from the collection and have a go at cleaning some of our artefacts.” Book online at www.
