Higher wages for new police officers

Warwickshire Police may not be currently recruiting officers, but the force’s Chief Constable has committed to paying future new starters the highest possible salary.

Andy Parker has announced that he will pay new recruits £21,999 per year, despite a recommended starting salary of £19,000 in the recently published Tom Winsor review of police officer and staff pay and conditions.

He said: “The role of the police constable is demanding and at times dangerous – this needs to be reflected in their pay.”

While the force is not recruiting for officer positions, applications for special constable and other volunteer positions are welcome. Visit www.warwickshire.police.uk
