Green Party Leader Natalie Bennett to visit Rugby

Natalie Bennett will be meeting with project coordinators and clients at Works 4 Me in Albert Street, Rugby, on Friday, February 5 from 12noon to 1pm. Works 4 Me is an innovative project combing art, recycling, training, employment and enterprise for young adults with learning difficulties and other groups.

Roy Sandison, from Rugby Green Party, said: “This is really a valuable addition to the local community and Natalie is pleased to be meeting with such a progressive group.”

Ms Bennett has been invited to visit Paddox Primary School and will be at hand to answer questions about the Green Party and also environmental issues submitted by the school students and teachers.

She will then take a tour of the town.

Roy Sandison said: “The future of the planet is a big concern for young people and Natalie is delighted to be able to address the questions that have been raised by the school including students from their Eco Council.

“Natalie will listen to our real concerns about the decline in the town centre so shockingly evident since Christmas – urgent action is needed to give support to local traders and shops.”

Ms Bennett will be speaking at a public meeting later in the day at the Town and Country Club in Henry Street (opposite Rugby Theatre) at 7.30pm.

Roy added: “The meeting will give local people the opportunity to ask Natalie about the Green Party alternative on issues such as 1 million green jobs, why we oppose bombing Syria, the refugee crisis, opposing austerity, defending the NHS and supporting the Junior Doctors strikes and what the election of Jeremy Corbyn means to us – the third biggest political party. Do we need a Progressive Alliance?”
