Graveyard damage near Leamington - investigation continues

DAMAGE caused to headstones in Cubbington and Lillington earlier this year prompted a criminal investigation - and police are reminding people to continue to help them with information.

The damage was caused at the graveyards at St Mary Magdalene church in Lillington during January and February and St Mary’s church in Cubbington last month.

Pc Dennis Quinlan of the local investigation team at Leamington police station said: “Local investigation officers are working closely in conjunction with the local neighbourhood policing team in order to effectively investigate this matter and to bring those responsible for these crimes to justice.

“We will continue to work closely with partner agencies and individuals amongst our diverse community in order to maintain and build on public confidence and drive down the fear of crime among our community.

“I would urge anybody in the community who has knowledge of these crimes and can assist police to please contact us with any relevant information.”

Anyone with information should call 101 or, if they wish to remain anonymous, they can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Officers would also still like to hear from relatives of those whose graves have been damaged so that full details can be recorded.
