Giant Christmas treat for the homeless

A GIANT Italian Christmas bread that weighed as much as a small person was donated to Warwick Hospital’s League of Friends - but the festive delight proved too much of a treat to handle.

Arden Fine Foods delivered a 50kg panettone to the voluntary group for its annual Christmas raffle - but the sheer size of the loaf prompted members of the league to opt to pass on the donation to the Leamington branch of the Salvation Army, which supports homeless people in the area, instead.

The giant cake was presented to the charity on Christmas Eve. Jonathon Chiles, of the branch, said: “It is fantastic that Arden Fine Food’s were able to donate to us this huge, festive cake which is nearly as heavy as me! Thank you.”
