Fun in the sun at Lillington Community Fun Day

DANCING, martial arts demonstrations and a dog wearing sunglasses were all part of a day of fun and games at the Holt park in Lillington.

The Community Fun Day, organised by churches in Lillington, the area’s Youth centre and ward councillors and North Leamington Community forum, brought together people of all ages from across the area.

More than 1,500 people enjoyed a range of free activities, which included races, a 30ft climbing wall, an inflatable assault course, a bouncy castle, dance and circus skills workshops, badge and fridge magnet making, a beat the goalie competition ran by Leamington Hibs and a tug-of-war.

Lillington Children’s Centre offered face painting and members of area’s Safer Neighbourhood made their police car available for youngsters to explore.

Gymnastics clubs, dance academies and martial arts schools gave demonstrations and performances.

The Rev James Church, convener for the event’s planning committee, said: “Lillington is a fantastic place to live and we hope that sense of community spirit engendered by this celebration will continue.”
