Five-pronged charity boost from Rotary club

THE generosity of a Warwick group has benefited five different charities who received cash boosts last week.

The Rotary Club of Warwick holds charity and fundraising events throughout the year and lends its support to many local people, groups and charities.

Last week they presented five charities - Myton Hospice, Red Balloon, League of Friends of Warwick Hospital, the Warwick 2nd Sea Scouts and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance - with cheques.

Rotary Club president John Fletcher said: “At the Warwick Rotary’s last meeting, a charity luncheon, we gave cheque presentations.

“On that day the club gave £800 to five different charities that we felt we wished to support.

“In these difficult financial times the Rotary Club of Warwick are delighted to support local charities and the wonderful work that they do.”

Fellow Rotarian Roy Joyner said: “Obviously the rotary raise money throughout the year and we have had a good year this year and had a bit more than usual.

“We had about £4,000 and nominated a few charities to spread it evenly between them.”
