Double crash at Moreton Morrell

A TEENAGER was airlifted to hospital on Saturday after crashing into a tree near Leamington.

At around 7.30 on Saturday morning West Midlands Ambulance service, fire crews from Wellesbourne and Leamington, and Warwickshire police were called to Fosse Way at Moreton Morrell.

Ambulance and Air Ambulance crews arrived at the scene, near to Hales Farm, to find the blue Peugeot 306 had crashed into a tree and the driver, a woman in her late teens, was trapped.

But the drama didn’t end there, as in a separate incident a motorcyclist then had a crash at the same place, and was lucky that ambulance crews were there to provide immediate treatment.

It is understood that the motorcyclist had swerved to avoid the car.

A West Midlands Ambulance spokesman said: “The woman was trapped for around an hour and a half. Once freed the woman was treated for multiple injuries, immobilised and airlifted to the University hospital of Coventry and Warwickshire.”

The motorcyclist was assessed and discharged at the scene.

Police are asking for anyone who witnessed the collision or has any information on how it occurred to contact PC Pat Kearney in the roads policing unit on 01926 415415.
