Do you recognise any of these children from Bath Place in Leamington?

Jake Bernard got in touch with us to see if we could put out an appeal on his behalf – and we are happy to help.

He said: “Between 1973 and 1976 I was a student at Warwick Uni and took a large number of photographs (several thousand) – mostly for the student weekly newspaper ‘The Warwick Boar’.

“In November 1974, the newspaper ran an article about Bath Place Community Venture and I was duly sent to Leamington to take some ‘illustrative’ photographs. Armed with my £20 Russian made SLR camera and a single roll of black and white film, I turned up, completely unannounced, and just started photographing the kids in the adventure playground.

“Nearly 44 years later I rediscovered the negatives and 18 photographs.

“I’m trying to trace the kids – to re-photograph them as a sort of ‘Now and Then’ – with a view to mounting an exhibition, ideally in Leamington.”

Two people have already come forward after we published the photos in the paper - and, between them, they have connections with nearly everyone else in the pictures.

But Jake is still looking for more information.

He is planning to come up to Warwick/Birmingham to photograph everyone later in the month, and then hopes this will lead to a local and possibly a national exhibition.
