Develop new skills for a good local cause

A LEADING charity that provides nursing care for people with cancer and other terminal illnesses has launched a fundraising group for the Leamington, Warwick and Kenilworth areas.

The Marie Curie Cancer Care group is best known for its network of nurses who improve the quality of life of those suffering from terminal illness.

Local fundraiser Mike McCann is hoping as many supporters of the charity as possible will go along to St John’s Church in Warwick Road, Kenilworth, at 7pm next Thursday, September 8, to see if they can offer regular support.

He said: “Our service is provided absolutely free of charge to the patient and their families and for every hour of care we provide, we need to raise £20.

“With an ageing population it is expected there will be an even greater demand for our services in the future and therefore an even greater need to raise more funds.”

But there is also a strong social element to working in a local group, not least the chance to make new friends and develop teamwork, leadership and communication skills.
