Debenhams branch opens for business at Leamington Shopping Park

Debenhams has opened its new store at Leamington Shopping Park right on time for the Christmas rush.

The store, stretched across the single floor of the 40,000 sq ft former Focus DIY unit, offers menswear. womenswear, cosmetics, accessories, a cafe with outdoor seating and new ranges of homeware and childrenswear.

Businesses close to the new shop, Debenhams staff from other stores and dignitaries, including Parminder Birdi the chairman of Leamington Chamber of Trade, were welcomed to an invite only pre-launch party at the store on Wednesday before the doors were opened to the public this morning (Thursday).

Store manager Kerry Makey, who has worked for Debenhams for 25 years, said: “It’s very exciting, I came on to the project about 12 weeks ago when the site was just a shell and I can’t believe it is what it is now.

“It’s fantastic for Leamington.”

About 100 new jobs have been created by the store including temporary Christmas staff, who have already been recruited.
