By the self-imposed 5pm deadline on Monday donors had helped Warwick Rocks to surpass its target by £60.

This will mean that five events will take place in the town between the summer and winter, starting with a Midsummer Music Festival in Market Square on June 21 sponsored by Warwick Castle, which also made a donation of £685 to the project.

Jack Linstead, founder of Warwick Rocks, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have made the crowd funding target. Everyone, both individuals and businesses, have been amazing in coming forward and supporting us.

“It demonstrates the community spirit that now exists in Warwick and the excitement everyone shares in putting on events like this.”

The Midsummer Music Festival will offer live bands, artists and street food from noon to 9pm.

It will be followed by a Food and Film Festival in the same place on August 29 and 30,

Warwick’s first ever Chocolate Festival, offering more than 20 different chocolate producers and ways to enjoy chocolate, will take place on November 1.

Also that month will be the town’s first ever Beaujolais Nouveau run - a charity extravaganza where Warwick Rocks will facilitate a car expedition to France, with drivers returning at midnight on November 19 as the new wine is released.

The drivers ‘challenge will be scored against mileage, time and miles per gallon.

Full details of this event are yet to be confirmed.

In December there will be a Warwick Rocks Christmas Films and Food event in Market Square.
