Crimewatch appeal leads to new information for police

POLICE investigating a violent assault in Leamington are following up new leads after an appeal for information was televised on the BBC’s Crimewatch programme last week.

The incident, in which a 20-year-old man from Oxfordshire was assaulted with a brick, took place outside KoKos nighclub in Warwick Street on Wednesday June 22 at about 2.45am.

The victim suffered a fractured jaw, a cut above his eye and problems with his sight and required extensive hospital treatment.

The offender is thought to have been one of a group of people seen at the scene.

CCTV footage was shown on Crimewatch and resulted in calls to the studio and to Warwickshire Police which are now being followed up.

Anyone with information about the assault, who has not yet come forward, is asked to contact Pc Andy Goldsmith or Pc Karen McClay in the local investigations team on 415000.
