In recent months three poly tunnels have been set on fire and last Thursday evening (November 26) there was a further incident where a shed was set alight.

Firefighters were called out to the site and the incident has been reported to the police.

The shed was completely destroyed.

Peter Atkinson, one of the plot holders, said "I am appalled at the mindless vandalism by the perpetrators of this arson attack."

Cllr Noel Butler, Chairman of the Allotments Committee at Warwick Town Council, said: "It is horrendous that such mindless vandalism spoils people’s enjoyment of the allotment site at a time when it provides such a great outlet for their physical and mental well-being in these difficult times.

"The behaviour is beyond belief."

A spokesperson from the Warwick Central Safer Neighbourhood Team said: ‘It’s a shame because we have been down to all the allotments in the area over the past few weeks in the evening time and this seemed to stop it - we shall continue to do so however."

Residents in the area are being asked to keep an eye out for any 'odd behaviour' and report it to [email protected] or telephone 01926 492212.

Information can also be given to the police by calling 101.
