Conspiracy theories are attempting to spread dangerous misinformation about coronavirus by distributing leaflets in Rugby.

Residents have previously shown the Advertiser copies of similar leaflets, which contain dangerous misinformation that is at variance with the findings of scientists and medical professionals.

Leaflets the Advertiser has previously seen misquote data, cite the opinions of unqualified spectators and attempt to direct readers to websites containing conspiracy theories.

Rugby councillor Jim Ellis has previously expressed concern over such leaflets and newsletters, branding them a disgusting attempt to sabotage the efforts of NHS workers and the safety of residents.

And today, February 19, Warwickshire Police issued a warning over the leaflets and urged residents to ensure they get their information from reputable, evidence-based sources.

A spokesperson said: "We are aware of leaflets being distributed in the Rugby area that claim to include information about the Covid pandemic.
