Blind man viciously attacked in Kenilworth

POLICE are investigating an incident where a man who is registered blind was assaulted in Kenilworth.

The attack took place at the telephone kiosk and post box near the bus stops in Abbey End just before 9.50pm last Friday.

The victim, who was alone at the time of the assault, suffered various swellings, bruising and wounds to his head and a break to his shoulder that will require a series of operations to correct.

Witnesses describe the victim being on the floor and unable to defend himself while he was struck to the head on numerous occasions by the offender.

The area was quite busy and several people came to the aid of the injured man, chasing the attacker off.

He ran off along Warwick Road towards the town centre at about 9.55pm.

He may have run into a side street.

The offender is described as a white male with collar length hair and wearing a waist length jacket.

There may have been people waiting at the bus stop or outside the bars and restaurants at the location.
