Cheers to St George and slaying the dragon

MORRIS dancers and Mummers will bring a splash of traditional colour to Warwick today (Monday) when they celebrate St George’s Day.

Warwick’s Plum Jerkum Border Morris dancers, Coventry Morris Men and Coventry Mummers will be performing around Warwick town centre.

The night will include Morris dancing and a St George’s Mumming play and will start at the Punch Bowl, at 8pm, going on to The Zetland Arms, via Market Place, and returning via Market Place, to the Punch Bowl for 9.30pm, rounded off with a session of lively folk music.

Chris Barber, of Plum Jerkum, said: “Morris dancing and Mumming are ancient English traditions. We hope people will enjoy the dancing and cheer on St George in the Mummers’ play.”
