Cars stolen in Southam after owners left door open

THIEVES stole two cars from a house in Southam after walking in through an open back door and taking the keys.

Police are asking the public to help them trace the black Mitsubishi Lancer saloon car and black Mitsubishi L200 Animal pick-up truck that were stolen between late evening on Monday and 7am on Tuesday.

The keys to the vehicles and a wallet were stolen after the back door of the property in Old Road, Southam was left unlocked overnight.

The Lancer’s registration starts BV60 and the truck’s registration starts BF07. The vehicles may have sustained slight damage as the thieves drove off.

Community intervention manager George Stepney said: “Please check your doors and windows are locked at night.

“There is no doubt that if you make it difficult to steal your property, thieves will look for easier pickings elsewhere.

“The more difficult your house is to break in to, the less likely you will be burgled.

“Your insurance company is less likely to pay up if you have left a door open.”
