Boy indicted for Florida murders

THE 16-year-old boy accused of shooting a Warwick man and his friend while in on holiday in Florida has been indicted for first-degree murder.

A grand jury has indicted Shawn Tyson on two adult counts of murder, and a judge sealed a court document detailing the evidence against him.

Authorities said witnesses could be in danger and the investigation damaged if the information is made public.

The document is scheduled to remain sealed until around the middle of May, but the Sarasota Herald-Tribune reported that detectives will seek to keep it sealed past that time.

James Kouzaris, 24, of Northampton, and James Cooper, 25, who lived in Kenilworth until a few years ago when he moved to Hampton Lucy, were fatally shot in a high-crime Sarasota neighbourhood on April 16.

Tyson was arrested the next day.
