Appeal after man assaulted train conductor at station

The 48-year-old was working on a service from Crewe to London when he was stood on the platform and asked to see a man’s ticket before he boarded the train.

The man became abusive and started to push the conductor before leaving the station.

The assault happened at around 2.30pm on December 30, 2015.

People travelling to or from Rugby may have witnessed the incident at Nuneaton train station.

PC Carl Johnson from BTP said: “Nobody should be treated this way simply for doing their job and this sort of aggressive behaviour will not be tolerated on the rail network.

“We are committed to working with our partners to reduce assaults on train and rail staff, and I would ask the public to help us send a clear message to anyone who thinks it is acceptable to abuse workers by assisting us with this appeal.

“Our investigation into this assault has now uncovered the image of a man we want to trace and I would urge anyone who knows him to get in touch.”
