Alert neighbour foils burglars

THREE burglars were foiled in their attempt to break into a house by an alert neighbour who called the police.

The incident took place in Newbold Place, Leamington, on Sunday at about 11am.

The neighbour saw three men in their 20s at the back window of a nearby house.

He asked them what they were doing and they barged past him and headed in the direction of Farley Street.

Officers arrived and made an immediate search of the area.

House to house enquiries were also carried out the following morning to establish further witnesses.

George Stepney, community intervention manager, said: “This man acted very bravely in challenging these burglars.

“His actions disturbed them and they quickly left the area.”

Any witnesses to the attempted burglary are asked to contact 415000 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
