Air ambulance rescues 85-year-old in Leamington

An 85-year-old man in Leamington was rescued by a Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance crew on Saturday (November 30) after falling and breaking his leg.

West Midlands Ambulance Service were first on the scene, but requested the attendance of the air ambulance crew, who arrived at the man’s home at around 3pm, ten minutes after receiving the call.

A doctor sedated the man and reduced the fracture. He was then taken by land ambulance to Warwick Hospital for further treatment.

An air ambulance spokesman said: “Over 90 per cent of WNAA’s rescue missions carry doctors on board which means they can provide advanced medical intervention, and administer higher levels of medication, effectively bringing the hospital to the patient.”
