Judges Roger Bache and Graham Redfern said: “Wellesbourne returns back to the campaign with a new chair and committee who are already making a difference to their community; most strikingly with a big clean-up at the village hall.”

The judges also reported that Wellesbourne, which was entered into the “Small Town” category, had “one of the most florally enhanced allotment sites seen this yeaar, colour everywhere, mostly golden.”

There was also good recycling evidence and a unique ‘recycle’ garden and play space at Wellesbourne Pre-School which really helped the entry.

The streets were also litter and dog-foul free, there was a wildlife garden at St Peter’s church and nice public open spaces in Hammond Green and Chestnut Square.
