Brian Holt reports more activity in housing market

Estate agency Brian Holt saw property contract exchanges rise by a third in November compared with the same month last year.

The agency’s four offices in Leamington, Kenilworth, Earlsdon and Coventry city centre saw a combined rise in exchanges of 30 per cent on the same period last year.

The Kenilworth office saw exchanges leap by 175 per cent, while Leamington saw almost double the number of people add their names to the agency’s mailing list and a rise of 37 per cent in viewings.

The Coventry city centre office achieved a 59 per cent rise in exchanges. The latest figures follow a successful October at the city centre branch which saw sale sup by 50 per cent and valuations increase by 39 per cent.

Leamington manager Jane Canning said: “Prices are remaining pretty stable and a recent national report by the Centre for Economic and Business Research projected they will rise by 15 per cent in the next five years. People are being sensible about pricing their houses and looking at the medium to longer term they realise it offers a better bet than renting.”
