Fly high on majestic wings of giant peach

A Roald Dahl tale is being performed on the stage by a number of enthusiastic youngsters at the beginning of next month.

The Priory Theatre in Kenilworth is putting on the fantasy adventure for children James and the Giant Peach.

It was originally published in 1961 and has been adapted for stage by David Wood. Dahl’s first-ever novel for children, the book enjoyed wild popularity and was made into an animated film by Disney in 1996.

Anything is possible when young James Trotter discovers a magical escape from his dreary life with aunts Spiker and Sponge. A chance encounter with a magical stranger, a bag filled with mysterious crocodile tongues, and an unexpected accident lead to the creation of the largest peach the world has ever seen.

After climbing aboard the giant fruit, James finds himself surrounded by a rag-tag group of friendly insects.

Director Callum Roberts said: “This is the first time the youth theatre will occupy a full week slot for several years. We have a superb group of young people eager to share their talents with you in this magical and entertaining script. What a fantastic show for all the family to enjoy for the youth theatre’s prolonged outing”.
