And according to Katie Best and Melissa Humphreys, it is a charity shop with a difference.

Katie and Melissa met while volunteering at another charity shop in the town and during lockdown came up with the idea for running a 'pre-loved boutique'.

Within a few months they found the premises in Millar Court (previously Bliss run by Jackie Sudbury) which they have renovated, made disabled-friendly, and decorated themselves with the help of friends, family and donated fittings and furniture.

The result is a business selling designer, high end and vintage ladies, men’s and children’s clothing, accessories, jewellery and homeware.

Katie said: “We felt there was a niche in the market for a pre-loved boutique selling high quality and vintage items and we are hoping to make a lot of money for Samaritans.

"We wanted to support this charity as their volunteers do a fantastic job talking to callers who are in distress.

"All branches are receiving more calls than ever from people worried about the Covid crisis and volunteers have been there to help people throughout the pandemic.”

Katie and Melissa say they are a good partnership as Melissa has a creative background and Katie has the experience of running a business.

Cllr Dickson said: “Well done to Katie and Melissa in getting the Pre-Loved Emporium up and running in Millar Court.

"It’s a great new addition to the shops in Kenilworth, enabling people to shop and spend locally, and raising vital money for Samaritans at the same time.”

The shop will open 10am – 4pm Tuesday to Saturday.

MORE ABOUT THE SAMARITANS

Samaritans offers a 24-hour listening service for people who are going through difficult or emotional times. Although the charity is often associated with suicidal callers, it encourages people to get in touch whenever they need someone to talk to, and especially before they reach the desperation or crisis point that can lead to suicide.
