A prayer shawl has gone up in the window of a popular Kenilworth shop, with a stitch for every resident in the town.

Helen Wilkes took ownership of SewArty Knitting and Sewing at the end of April last year, with big plans for the shop.

But since the shop had to temporarily close due to the lockdown, she has been working inside, watching the comings and goings to Waitrose and the queue going past hershop. "So what could I do to brighten people’s day?" she said.

"I set to to crochet a rainbow prayer shawl. Finding that the population in Kenilworth in approximately 22,500 my design has just over 28,000 stitches, so as I have worked on it I have been thinking of all the residents and workers in Kenilworth.

"It’s for all of you, no matter if you have a faith or no faith, believe or don’t believe. It’s full of hope for all your futures."
