Lecture and Display by Mark Warby on Captain Bruce Bairnsfather and his association with the Verney Family and Lighthorne; Lighthorne Village Hall: The famous Stratford resident and creator of the WWI comic character “Old Bill” was a personal friend of the Verney family and before enlisting in the First World War he wrote, directed and performed in pantomimes in Lighthorne and at Compton Verney.
