Warwickshire boys hit the right note with judges

MORE than 60 members of the 80-strong Warwickshire County Choristers performed at the National Youth Music Finals in Symphony Hall, Birmingham.

The youngsters wowed the judges so much that they achieved a Choir of the Day award for outstanding choral singing.

Leonora Davies, known for her appearance on the BBC’s Boys Don’t Sing series, was particularly impressed with the choristers “excellent performance skills”.

Garry Jones, director of the singing group, said: “The choristers have sung at very important events, including the BBC Choir of the Year Grand Final, and are now recognised as a top-class choral group.”

Ben Carter, aged 12, of Warwick said “We all enjoy singing together at important events and it’s great when we win. We make a great team.”

The boys now wait to see if they have been selected to sing at the School’s Prom at the Royal Albert Hall in November.

Andrew Atkins, director of the County Music Service, said: “It would be a fitting tribute to the hard work everyone has put in.”
