But the production will have a new twist – its backdrop will be a modern-day Seville and with an English translation.

It is staged by the student society Opera Warwick – whose past productions over its 12-year history have included the classics and fusing La Cerentola with TV reality show The Only Way is Essex, which was met with rave reviews and became the first student production to return to the arts centre for a second run.

Carmen lasts about two-and-a-half hours and starts at 7.30pm.

Tickets are from £18 to £12 and there are concessions and student rates. Phone 024 7652 4524 or go to www.warwickartscentre.co.uk
