Tall Stories, which brought The Gruffalo to the venue, is performing its production of Room On The Broom every day until December 29.

The witch and her cat are flying happily along on their broomstick when a stormy wind blows the witch’s hat, bow and wand away into the night.

With the help of a daft dog, a beautiful bird and a friendly frog, her belongings are retrieved. But this broomstick is not meant for five and – CRACK! – it snaps in two. When a hungry dragon appears, who will save the poor witch? And will there ever be room on the broom for everyone?

The performance is suitable for children aged three and over, but if families would like to bring under-twos, they must obtain a free baby pass. Children over two must have a ticket. Tickets cost £13 (£11 concessions).

And this Sunday (December 15), the Aurora Orchestra, conducted by Neil Thompson and with narration by television star Sanjeev Bhaskar, is performing a double bill of Peter And The Wolf and The Snowman at 3pm.

Peter and his animal companions are brought to life on stage by dancing strings, quacking oboes, fluttering flutes and prowling horns in Prokofiev’s charming tale of courage and compassion.
