String group to play in town for fourth time

Russian musicians will return to Leamington for the fourth time as part of Leamington Music’s monthly quartet series.

The Atrium String Quartet, who will play at the Pump Room on Friday 24 January, won the London International String Quartet Competition in 2003 and have toured the United Kingdom regularly ever since.

The Quartet last visited Leamington in the Autumn, since when, it has given concerts in Germany, toured Japan and just before Christmas returned to St Petersburg where it was founded in 2000.

The concert, which starts at 7.30pm, has three works - Haydn’s Quartet in B minor Opus 33 No 1 from the so-called Russian set, Prokofiev’s Quartet No 2 and Beethoven’s late masterpiece in A minor Opus 132.
